Fatal crane overturn in Alaska
A crane operator has died after his crawler crane overturned in North Douglas, near Juneau, Alaska on Thursday. The man, Boyd Cody, 75, was operating the crane from a barge in the Gastineau Channel, moving a larger generator at the yard of Trucano Construction in North Douglas when it tipped onto its side.

Two men were injured on Saturday at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan, while assembling a crawler crane. The men were installing the crane’s back mast using another crawler crane.
An investigation into a gantry crane collapse
Critical mistakes were made during the disassembly that severely overloaded the hinges. The mistakes included jacking the towers to reduce the load on the skid, which resulted in an increase in the load to the hinge, and failing to lubricate the rail underneath the skid, which caused the project team to decide to jack up the crane.

Queensland fatality, trigger safety stoppage
The accident involved a 65-year-old foreman who worked for the formwork specialist Bosform of Yatala. He was crushed by a large shuttering form which dropped from a crane at a height of 20 metres or more. According to local reports a lifting eye on the formwork gave way, causing it to fall.
Crane operator fatality at Tilbury
A crane operator died earlier today after the crane he was operating overturned at Tilbury Docks in the UK. We do not know what type of crane, but do know that it had an elevated cab and that it turned over onto its side.
