MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — The owner of a construction company whose cranes collapsed on the East Side in 2008, killing nine people is expected to turn himself in to face manslaughter charges Monday

Reports say that no one was injured apart from that there are currently no further details and just one very grainy photograph.

A serious crane accident in Northern Germany involving the dropping of a large turbine rotor has been reported.

The accident involved a 1,200 tonne Liebherr LTM11200-9.1 erecting a large wind turbine in Hennickendorf in Brandenburg at the end of last week.

The accused were described as “reckless” by district attorney Cyrus Vance, who said that their alleged negligence with the tower crane on the 333 East 91st Street construction site, led directly to the deaths of two construction workers.

The recovery plan had to be quick and precise with attention to safety and detail during the lifts. The job was completed sucessfully without incident.

The 34 year-old operator was employed by APM Terminals and was loading steel sheets on trucks at the port when the crane tipped over.
