A new company has been established in the UK to provide contractors and other crane owners with operators. Based just outside of London High Drive Recruitment is fronted by Tristam Mayes a highly experienced crane operator in his own right.

Gelskey to Outline Lessons Following Fatality
Mike Gelskey Sr., president and CEO, Lift-It Manufacturing, Los Angeles, Calif., will be one of the headline speakers at Maximum Capacity Media’s (MCM) Crane & Rigging Conference (CRC) Canada, which will take place Oct. 12-13, 2011 at the Fantasyland Hotel, Alberta.

Turbine installation processes are becoming more challenging as turbine sizes increase, and the size of wind farms grows larger.
A crane operator accidentally engaged the main hoist of his crawler crane in Naples Maine, yesterday pulling the lattice boom over the back of the crane. No one was injured in the incident and there appears to be little damage to anything but the crane, the boom of which is clearly a ‘write-off’.

Liebherr has introduced a new efficient, low emission mobile harbour crane, the LHM 550, following its successful test and evaluation trials at the port of Odense in Denmark, where it is still working on routine port handling duties. The Liebherr LHM 550 has been designed for all types of general cargo, containers and bulk commodities with its 74 metre lifting height and 150 tonne capacity.
Seven men working on the Jirau hydroelectric power plant near Porto Velho in Brazil had a lucky escape on Monday after a crane dropped a 30 tonne load onto the scaffold they were standing on.
Terex Cranes closing Wilmington facility; 90 jobs lost
Terex Cranes announced Thursday it will close its Wilmington facility for fabrication and assembly by the end of the year, eliminating about 90 jobs in the process, according to a press release. The facility in Wilmington does some assembly and fabrication of tower cranes and small crawler cranes.
Construction Crane Collapse in Stafford County
A large construction crane flipped over in a Stafford County business center on Wednesday and wrapped around a building. The accident happened in the Quantico Corporate Park around 11 a.m.
