Manitowoc has announced the introduction of a new 150 ton/135 tonne two axle Rough Terrain crane, the Grove RT9150E. The new model, the largest two axle Grove ever, combines the superstructure of the Grove GMK5130-2 (GMK5165-2 in USA) All-Terrain crane with the chassis of the 130 ton RT9130E.
The accident happened near Northeast 10th Street and Hiwassee Road in Choctaw. Workers said a construction crew was repairing a bridge when part of a crane fell on the man’s head. Sky5 flew over the scene, and emergency personnel were taking a man to an ambulance by stretcher
The lattice boom of a foundation crane went over the back of the crane in an accident in Singapore today. Fortunately no one was hurt in the incident which occurred on a site near the Ten Mile Junction station in Bukit Panjang, North central Singapore.
A Crawler crane working on a barge in Ketchikan, Alaska overturned last week forcing two men into the water at Ward Cove near Ketchikan. The Coast Guard was called to find the two who apparently jumped overboard to avoid the falling crane on 50 metre barge Quartz Hill. The men clambered aboard the tug attached to the barge before the Coast Guard’s life boat arrived on the scene. There were no injuries.
A truck crane that ran a red traffic light caused a six car collision last week in Tampa, Florida. The crane, reportedly ran through a red light and crashed into the patrol car of a Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputy and a four by four. Police have said that the crane’s air brakes appear to have failed causing the crane to plough through the lights and crash into traffic, dragging vehicles with it until it came to rest against a large bus and several other vehicles.
The crane was installing protective barriers along the wharf for smaller vessels to berth, when it went over the edge. The driver’s reactions were quick enough that he managed to jump clear before the crane went in to the 14.5 metre deep water and was uninjured.
A mother and daughter have died and three men were injured after a mast climber collapsed in Liege, Belgium yesterday. According to the reports that we have been sent the mast climber or material hoist was working on the facade of the Media City site in Liege yesterday morning.
