The structure of the new Sky Train transit network is taking shape at the Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix. When complete, the elevated rail system will transfer passengers between the airport’s busiest terminal, Terminal 4, and the Metro Light Rail station and East parking lots.

Engineering company Monadelphous Group Ltd. became the first company in Australia to acquire a 750 tonne capacity Manitowoc 18000 with Max-Er attachment. The company’s engineering construction division has put it to work at a mining operation in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Fassi Cranes Assist in Rescue, Chilean Miners
Italian crane manufacturer Fassi has been playing a key role in the rescue of 33 miners trapped for nearly ten weeks in Copiapo, Chile. Fassi cranes have been maneuvering the steel pipes to form the recently-completed escape tunnel that is part of one of the most complex rescue operations in mining history.
A 280 tonne lattice boom truck crane left the road on Friday and plunged into a ditch, after completing a lift in Astoria,the crane, an older Demag on a Faun carrier is owned by Portland based Campbell Crane & Rigging.
JE Dunn Construction is using a Linden-Comansa 21 LC 400 tower crane to restore the historic Kansas Statehouse in Topeka. The crane is working at a height of almost 104m (340ft). JE Dunn is managing the $36m Kansas Statehouse exterior masonry restoration project in the capital, Topeka.
Manitowoc is showing the new 65 ton Grove RT765E-2 Rough Terrain crane, along with a range of other new products at a series of opens days – Crane Expo 2010- at its Shady Grove plant in Pennsylvania.
Controversial cargo arrives at Port of Vancouver
Crews at the Port of Vancouver are helping move some extra-large packages: oil modules weighing 85 tons. The equipment, which arrived Monday, is bound for the Kearl Oil Sands in Alberta, Canada, where it will be assembled and used to extract oil from sand.
Caterpillar and Solimec have confirmed their plan to jointly develop a range of foundation cranes. The agreement follows the launch at Bauma of the 65 tonne Soilmec SC-65 lattice boomed crawler crane which was designed and built in collaboration with CAT.
International Tower Cranes 2011 is a new top-level one day conference and networking dinner for tower crane users and manufacturers worldwide. ITC 2011 will be held in central London, UK on 12 May 2011.
A mobile crane tipped over on Wednesday at the Yeongam Formula One circuit in South Korea damaging part of a main grandstand. Korea is due to stage the grand prix on the 24th October but was not ready for the standard pre-race approval inspection normally due 90 days prior to the race. A last minute inspection is scheduled for October 11th.
