Dutch construction company Dura Vermeer has installed camera/monitor systems across its entire tower crane fleet in order to aid its crane operators and improve safety.

Liebherr has previewed two innovative new cranes which it plans to launch at next April’s Bauma exhibition in Munich, Germany.

The spandrel being placed was 120 feet (37 m) long and weighed 150,000 pounds (68 metric tons).

Four Liebherr container cranes already operate at the port, the second and third were post panamax units delivered in 1992. The first was a tango type, delivered in 1978 and the fourth arrived in 2004.

The wind energy market continues to grow as does the capacity of the turbines, particularly offshore.

This includes the 38 tonne capacity Altec AC38-127S telescopic crane upper which has been mounted on Prinoth’s GT4500 tracked vehicle, designed for use on usually inaccessible terrains.

The crane has a single cab and is suited to working indoors or in crowded urban settings.

Manitowoc delivered the GTK to China Power Equipment Installation Engineering Co. Ltd. (CPIE) at the end of June 2009, accompanied by two of the company’s most experienced service personnel.
