A crane hire company has been fined after the hook broke off a tower crane and its four tonne load crashed 36 metres to the ground, narrowly missing a footpath.
It seems that the crane an older 17 ton crawler crane slipped off the barge as it listed overnight while taking on water. The crane smashed into a dock and caused minor oil and diesel spills.
