The Liverpool tower crane is being removed in the video below. It’s a good demonstration of what it takes to remove these cranes after they collapse. They have a self-erector to suspend the workrs cutting the crane apart. They have a 500 ton crane assisting the 800 ton. Clean up of this magnitude can easily approach one million dollars.I was involved with the clean up of the Bellevue crane collapse. The cutting apart of the crane is a long drawn out process to figure out weights, pick points, center of gravity, safe rigging practices and methods of cutting that will prevent shock loading to the crane. It is dangerous work for certain. .
