Falling crane crushes worker in Georgetown

newcamastaA man was killed on Thursday when when part of a crane boom he was disassembling fell and crushed him, said Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson.

Thomas “Tommy” Grainger died at the scene around 12:22 p.m., Johnson said.

Grainger was working on a new boat landing in Georgetown for Carolina Marine Construction Inc. when the incident happened.

The crane / construction industry can be dangerous, we hope that there were no safety violations that lead to this tragedy.
