Crane Safety Rule Delayed for Months

Liverpool Crane CollapseA LIVERPOOL MP slammed delays in improving crane safety on building sites.

An accident at Chandler’s Wharf earlier this year left dad-of-four Iain Gillham paralysed below the waist.

Riverside’s Louise Ellman urged ministers to speed up the introduction of national register of tower cranes so operators would be forced to conduct regular checks and safety reviews.

But work minister Jonathan Shaw told her the Health and Safety Executive measure would not be in place until next April at the earliest.
