The mechanic blamed for a fatal, 2008 tower crane collapse on East 91st St. will not go to jail providing he cooperates against his millionaire magnate boss, James Frank Lomma, at a manslaughter trial now set for December, it was revealed today.

Queensland fatality, trigger safety stoppage

The accident involved a 65-year-old foreman who worked for the formwork specialist Bosform of Yatala. He was crushed by a large shuttering form which dropped from a crane at a height of 20 metres or more. According to local reports a lifting eye on the formwork gave way, causing it to fall.

A three axle city type All Terrain crane ended up on its roof today after coming down the long steep Ebchester Hill, in the village of Ebchester in County Durham the UK. The hill has an escape lane as it approaches the village and joins the main road – the A-694 – in a T-Junction.

A crane operator died earlier today after the crane he was operating overturned at Tilbury Docks in the UK. We do not know what type of crane, but do know that it had an elevated cab and that it turned over onto its side.

The crane a Zoomlion QUY 1000 crawler crane owned by Ningxia Tianxin Construction and development was lifting a 5MW wind turbine nacelle at the production facility of Sinovel where it was made. The load was recorded as 318 tonnes which was within the cranes capacity.

Toronto accident is not a crane

A fatal accident at York University in Toronto this afternoon did not involve a crane as has been widely reported. The tragic incident in which one man died and another was seriously injured, involved an excavator based foundation machine, which overturned at the site of a future subway station for the university.
